Need: teaching & research workspace

Shared infrastructure for courses and labs

One platform pattern for how people work: projects, browser access, and data next to the apps. Each project can include the apps it needs for AI and simulation work. One environment on AWS, GCP, or on-prem Kubernetes.

Shared process Same infrastructure pattern for class and lab
Apps per project Each project can run the tools it needs
Work from anywhere Campus, home, or travel in the browser

What a course or a lab adds

App containers for class. Flow containers and sample flows for the lab. Both are published at containers.projecteureka.ai.

Course apps Jupyter, VS Code, RStudio, Octave, and a Linux desktop.
Simple install Download the course containers once. Students open them in the browser.
Lab flow containers BLAST, GROMACS, OpenFOAM, and PyTorch on a saved flow.
Sample flows Import a starter into the lab project, then submit it.
Students join the course project and use its apps in the browser

For courses and teaching

Organize a semester as a project (or a few). Students join that project and open the course apps in the browser.

  • No laptop install: The course containers are already on the environment.
  • Sections and groups: Keep homework sets, lab sections, or teams cleanly separated by project
  • Less support load: Fewer Python, driver, and laptop tickets for TAs and instructors
  • Off-campus access: Reach the same project from home or travel as on campus

For labs and research groups

A lab project can save a flow and run it again. Download the flow container, import the sample, and submit.

  • Shared lab place: The project holds the people, the data, and the flows they rerun
  • Home + project + buckets: Personal space, shared project storage, multi-cloud object storage when needed
  • Multi-project groups: Several initiatives across campus, home, and collaborators without re-imaging machines
  • AI and simulations: Choose the apps each project needs for notebooks, desktops, and longer-running research work
Start a project, invite collaborators, keep work organized
Work continues in the environment when you step away

Apps and jobs that keep running

Apps and jobs keep running after the laptop sleeps. A lab supervises them from the browser, under the project's access.

  • Under the project's access, next to the data
  • Keep working when you leave: Long jobs continue after devices sleep or disconnect
  • Access from anywhere: Check status and continue from campus, home, or travel
  • Fits teaching and research: Student projects, lab pipelines, and experiments that need an environment beyond a personal laptop
